Getting Into Bangkok's China Town? 2007/05/12 13:23 Karma: 0
Does anyone know the best way to get to China Town from the Victoy Monument area without having to sit in too much traffic?

There are actually a few good ways to get in there.

1 - The easiest is to take the BTS sky train to Silom and change to the MRT Underground. Take the underground to the last stop (Hua Lompong station). Then from there it is a short taxi ride. In fact, it is such a short taxi ride that if you walked in the direction west of the Hua Lompong train station you would in 5 minutes be at the start of Yaowaroj Road, which is the beginning of China Town. On the way you would pass an interesting temple worth a visit called Wat Traimit with a 2,500 kilo gold Buddha statue.

2 - You can take a taxi down Rama 6 Road and at the end have the taxi turn right and you are almost to China Town that way and avoid a lot of the RAMA 4 traffic congestion.

3 - You can take the sky train to the last stop at the Thaksin Bridge station. From there catch a river ferry to the Ratchawong Pier. From the Ratchawong Pier you are about 500 meters from the center of China Town.
